Vietnam Hotel Prices: What Does ₹2,000, ₹4,000 or ₹7,000 Get You?

One of the first questions people ask when planning Vietnam is simple:

How much should I budget for a hotel?

The answer isn't quite as simple.

Vietnam has accommodation at many different price levels, and what you get for your money depends on the city, neighbourhood, season, travel dates and type of property you choose.

So instead of giving you one "average hotel price", let's look at three practical planning ranges.

Around ₹2,000 a night

At around ₹2,000 per night, you can look for basic private rooms, guesthouses and budget hotels.

Depending on the location, you may find:

  • Air conditioning

  • Wi-Fi

  • Private bathroom

  • Basic room facilities

  • Convenient local accommodation

But this is where location and individual hotel quality become particularly important.

Two hotels at the same price can offer very different experiences.

Always check recent reviews, photographs and the exact location before booking.

Around ₹4,000 a night

At around ₹4,000, your choices generally become more comfortable.

You can start looking at good three-star properties, better locations and hotels with additional facilities.

Depending on the hotel, you may find:

  • Better rooms

  • Better locations

  • Breakfast included

  • More hotel facilities

  • Higher levels of service

For many travellers, this can be a useful middle ground between keeping costs under control and having a comfortable stay.

Around ₹7,000 a night

At around ₹7,000, you can explore a wider range of comfortable three- and four-star hotels.

Depending on the city and dates, this budget may give you:

  • Larger or better-appointed rooms

  • Better locations

  • Swimming pools or additional facilities

  • Higher levels of service

  • More choices when comparing hotels

But again, don't assume that paying more automatically means a better experience.

Location can matter just as much as the hotel itself.

Hotel prices vary by city

Vietnam doesn't have one nationwide hotel price.

Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hoi An and Ninh Binh can all offer different accommodation choices at different prices.

Even within the same city, two neighbourhoods can have noticeably different prices.

That's why looking only at the hotel price can be misleading.

Location can save you money

A cheaper hotel isn't necessarily cheaper overall.

If your hotel is far from the places you want to visit, you may spend more time and money on transport.

A slightly more expensive hotel in a convenient location can sometimes make more sense.

Before booking, ask yourself:

What do I want to see?

What's nearby?

How much time will I spend travelling?

These three questions can make a big difference to your trip.

Don't forget the season

Hotel prices can change according to:

  • Weekdays and weekends

  • Public holidays

  • Peak travel periods

  • Local events

  • How early you book

  • How much demand there is

So the same hotel may not cost the same amount on every date.

The figures in this guide should therefore be treated as planning ranges, not guaranteed prices.

Always check the actual price for your dates before booking.

Remember: the price is usually per room

This is particularly important when planning a trip for two people.

If a room costs ₹4,000 per night and two people share it, the accommodation cost works out to approximately ₹2,000 per person, before considering taxes or other charges shown by the booking platform.

That can make mid-range hotels much more affordable than they initially appear.

What should you actually look for?

Don't simply ask:

"What is the cheapest hotel I can find?"

Instead ask:

"What gives me the best balance of price, location and comfort?"

That is usually a much better way to plan accommodation.
